Ben Stokes broke the Bangladesh hearts, who are eyeing to seal the historic victory against England, by picking up last two wickets on the final day of the first Test in Chittagong. Bangladesh needed 33 runs for the victory while England were two wickets away from the victory.
The match was evenly poised overnight. But Stokes made all the difference with his spell in the morning. After adding 10 runs to the overnight score, Bangladesh lost next two wickets inside the first 20 minutes of the day’s play. Debutant Sabbir Rahman, who scored half century overnight, was left stranded on 64 runs. He collapsed to the ground after their loss while England players consoled him.
Stoke dismissed the other two batsmen in his second over after catching both of them in front of the wicket. Taijul Islam (16) was the first to go while Shafiul Islam was the other batsman two balls later. Stoke named man of the match for his six-wicket haul in the match along with his 85-run knock in England’s second innings.
