Indian ace shuttler fromHyderabad Saina Nehwal has been awarded a rare offer as she has been appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission member. She received the letter of confirmation regarding the appointment from IOC president Thomas Bach on Monday night.
The Indian shuttler was out of action since Rio Olympics after sustaining an injury that saw her crumble in the earlier rounds ending her medal Olympic medal hopes. The Athletes’ Commission is chaired by Angela Ruggiero and it comprises nine vice presidents and 10 other members. The next meeting of the commission will be held on November 6.
Saina is recovering from an injury and is likely to be seen in action in November. Saina’s father Harvir Singh expressed happiness over her appointment and said that it is the greatest recognition by the international body.
