India’s wrestling star Sakshi Malik, who fetched India’s maiden medal in women’s wrestling in the recently concluded Rio Olympics by bagging a bronze, got engaged to her boyfriend and fellow wrestler Satyawart Kadian at her residence in Rohtak.
The star wrestler created history by becoming the first Indian wrestler to win a medal at an Olympic event and the medal in Rio was more precious as India managed just two medals in this edition, the other being PV Sindhu’s silver in badminton.
The engagement function was a small affair and only the families of to-be-groom and bride have participated. The 24-year-old Malik is trained by Satyawart’s father Satyavan Pehelwan. Satyawart is two years younger to Sakshi and he fell in love with Sakshi during their wrestling tournaments. Sakshi said that Satryawart is very supporting and he understands the difficulties in the game and supports her to achieve her dreams.
