India’s middle-order batsman from Uttar Pradesh Suresh Raina has been ruled out of the next ODIs against New Zealand. Raina made it to the Indian ODI side after a gap of one year and all set to take the field. But the viral fever kept him out of the first ODI and Kedar Jadhav made it to the playing XI.
Raina was ruled out after his side UP’s opening Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh in Hyderabad. After leading his side on the opening day, he remained in the indoors of the hotel. He then flew to New Delhi. Though he joined the team for the first two ODIs, he did not regain full fitness. He was seen hitting the nets ahead of the second ODI but did not make it to the playing XI. The BCCI selection committee on Monday retained the same playing XI for the next two ODIs. India lead the five-match series 2-1 with a victory over Kiwis in the last ODI at Mohali.
