Ashwin doesn’t play for milestones

Team India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that he doesn’t play for milestones and won’t think of them during the game. He feels that concentrating more on milestones can rob the player of enjoying the match and put extra burden on them. He also said that he is not thinking about reaching the 300-wicket milestone in Test cricket yet in this long season and did not want to miss out on enjoying the process of playing.

For the record, Ashwin now has 220 wickets in 39 Test matches, by most by any bowler after 39 Tests. The Chennai bowler said that he is having the best phase of his career and he is enjoying every bit of it. Ashwin has the reputation of damaging big names as the crease. He has made life difficult for game’s few of the finest players that include AB de Villiers, Kumar Sangakkara and now Kane Williamson. Ashwin felt that restricting these batsmen is very pleasing.
