Tendulkar to present BMW to Rio champions in city

Cricket legend and India’s goodwill ambassador for Rio Games Sachin Tendulkar will be in city on Sunday to present the BMW cars to Olympic medallists – shuttler P V Sindhu and wrestler Sakshi Malik – and gymnast Dipa Karmakar for making the country proud. He will also present BMW cars to Sindhu’s coach Pullela Gopichand for producing two Olympic medallists – London Games bronze medallist Saina Nehwal and now Sindhu.

Tendulkar will present the cars at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Gachibowli in the presence of State Minister for IT K T Rama Rao. These cars are being sponsored by Hyderabad Badminton Association president V Chamundeswaranath. The news was earlier declared by Punnaiah Choudhary, secretary of Badminton Association of India (BAI) on August 22 in Rio.

Sachin had earlier presented a BMW car to Saina Nehwal in 2012 after winning a bronze in the London Olympics while he presented Maruti Swift to Sindhu for winning girls’ singles title in the Asian Youth Under-19 Championship.
