Hitting back at the recent trend of people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana searching for Sindhu’s cast during her Olympic campaign that resulted in a first-ever badminton silver, her coach Gopichand said that Sindhu belongs to the country. While both states – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh – making desperate efforts to own her nativity by announcing handsome rewards for the shuttler, her coach said that the matter is settled now as she represented the country and she belongs to the nation.
“Sports is a great national integration policy as well and I think we should celebrate this,” the coach said. Sindhu was born in Hyderabad, now a part of Telangana but her parents hail from Andhra Pradesh. Gopichand said it was fantastic that various states praised Sindhu and supported her for her achievement.
