Indians welcomed to Samba beats at Rio Olympic Village

The Indian contingent has been received to the Samba music at the Olympic Village on Wednesday. Though few of the athletes have reached the Village much before, the official welcoming ceremony was held yesterday. The athletes have been given a warm-welcome by local officials with the troops dancing to some famous Brazilian music. Few of the athletes were missing at the opening ceremony as they were busy practicing at the Games venues. Present at the occasion were Indian men and women’s hockey teams along with India’s Chef de Mission Rakesh Gupta and IOA president N Ramachandran. The Indian officials the mayor of the Village Janeth Arcain with a gold plated peacock and a pair of silver elephants. The Indian athletes were seen wearing white tracks and enjoyed the ceremony.
