India rallied from a first-half down to defeat Iran in a brilliant final match with 38-29 scoreline to lift the kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad on Saturday night.India were trailing at the half time 13-18 and looked in trouble. However, they scripted a spectacle turn round in the second half and cruised to a comfortable victory in the end. Ajay Thakur was the top performer for the victorious Indian team with a star turn as he scored 12 points.
The Iran team too had their moments in the game and were never left the guard down. They kept fighting till the end, but the Indians proved too much for them. With the inception of Pro Kabaddi League the rural game has become one the most popular games in the country and that was evident from the success of the World Cup which made kabaddi a global sport.
