HC verdict on OAT-TOA on Dec 19

The solution to the power politics in the State association is likely to come soon as the High Court set to deliver its verdict on who should be the official Olympic body among Olympic Association of Telangana and Telangana Olympic Association.

The body under the leadership of Prof. K Ranga Rao has got the affiliation from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) while the parallel body led by AP Jitender Reddy claims that OAT is the illegal body. The TOA office bearers are currently occupying the office in Olympic Bhavan and denied the right of OAT when they approached to take over the office. However, the matter is in the High Court now and a decision is likely on December 19.

“We have conducted the elections on April 18, 2015 under the IOA guidelines and in the presence of an observer from IOA. We are attending the IOA meetings also. How can they (TOA) say that our body is illegal? Their body is illegal,” Ranga Rao said.

“There cannot be more than one association in any State. So IOA rejected application as they have already granted it to us. Their elections were also nullified. Moreover there are not many association members with them. There are only four to five sports bodies of Olympic Games are with them. Except kabaddi and kho kho associations, they don’t have the support of other sports bodies. Let the High Court give its decision. Everything will be normal after that. We will occupy the office and run from there,” he concluded.
